Such, however, has boon vowhsafed to J. J. Hoxle, father of C. II. and H.

B. Hoxie. That gentleman was 92 years old yesterday and his children and a number of friends gathered to rejolec with him and to extend him best wishes for the future. The celebration was at the home of Mrs. E.

V. Brown, on Tre-mont street, a daughter, where the honored and aged patriarch lives. The gentleman, though a monogenarian, is quite strong physically and bids fair to live many more years. To this Is due his temperate life and his happy and cheerful disposition. It is said that every mad fit one has his life is shortened perceptibly.

If this be true. Mr. Hoxie must have been of a very cheerful and even temper all his life, and those who have been his most intimate acquaintances testify that BUch is the fact. Living 92 years! That means being born In 1810. That was two years before the breaking out of the second war with Groat Britain.
