until noon Friday, when the body will be moved to the church. He was born Jan. 12, 1905, in Chickasaw County, son of Sidney and Amy Loving. He married Eddie Bea Hines in Creston, Sept. 14, 1963.

He retired from the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works after working there for 14 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rev. John Henry Loving Jr. of Evanston, and Irwin T. of Atlanta, Ga a stepdaughter, Bemita L.

Sallis of 56 Lafayette two brothers, Andrew of Kansas City, and Roy of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. Mrs. Math Beelner Services for Mrs. Math Beelner, 77, of 1706 E. Washburn Road, will be at 11 a.m.

Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville with burial in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and m. Thursday, and a Scripture service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, all at the Oppold Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5 p.m.

Wednesday. Mrs. Beelner died Monday night at home. Memorials will be accepted in her name, the us of which will be determined later by the family. Timothy Magnuson Services for Timothy Magnuson, six months old, 422 Logan are pending at Parrott Wood Funeral Home.

The baby was the son of Mike and Sharon Magnuson. Police said the child apparently strangled after becoming entangled in the crib's framework. A screw had come loose from one of the railings, according to police. An autopsy was being performed at Scnoitz Memorial Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. Police said there was no evidence of foul play.

I understand that one person running for the Cedar Falls school board is married to a teacher and another one running is a teacher. Is it legal for them to serve on the board? A One candidate, Mrs. Audrey Lowin, was formerly a substitute teacher in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Incumbent board member Ervin Dennis teaches at the University of Northern Iowa. The wife of candidate Roger Elsberry is employed by the Area Education Agency-7.

School board members and their spouses are forbidden by law from being employees of that school district, and a board member may not be an agent of a textbook or school supply company that does business with that district. Anyone running for a school board position would, if elected, have to give up employment or business connections with that particular school district. Services for Eugene R. Higgins drowned In Silver Lake Saturday. Dr. Eugene Smith, deputy county medical examiner, ruled the drowning a suicide. He was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Independence, the son of Lawrence and Clara Stemper Higgins.

He married Mary Sted-ing July 10, 1959, in Waterloo. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel, a student at the University of Northern Iowa, and Jeffrey at home; a daughter, Kelly at home; his mother, Mrs. Clara Higgins of Independence; a brother, Patrick of Glendora, and three sisters, Mrs. William Sherrets of Loveland, Tony Greco of Independence, and Mrs.

Ken Smith of Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Jessie S. Pike Memorial services for Mrs. Jessie S.

Pike, 93, of Americana Health Care Center, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. She died early Tuesday at Americana Health Care Center. O'Keefe and Towne Funeral Home is in charge of Services for Mrs. Tordis J.

Wilcken. 83. of 401 Terrace Drive, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories.

She died at Scnoitz Memorial Hospital about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. She was born June 25, 1895. in Oslo, Norway, daughter of Johann and Al bertha Schletlig Johansen. She married Carl F.

Wilcken July 10, 1918, in Minneapolis. The couple moved to Waterloo in 1932, owning and operating the Waterloo Box Crating Co. Survivors include a son, William W. of 150 W. Orange Road; a daughter, Mrs.

Charlotte V. Carter of Oes Moines: nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alette C. OostaJ of Deerfield Beach, Fla. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Memories West, and at the church for an hour preceding services.

Lester D. Grundmeier Sr. Services for Lester D. Grundmeier 71, formerly of Waterloo and recently of Oelwein, will be Friday in Boulder, with burial in Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder. He died Monday morning at Scholtz Memorial Hospital.

The body was sent from Kearas-Dykeman Chapel to the Howe Mortuary in Boulder. He was born March 1907, in Carroll, son of Herman and Hulda Wagner Grundmeier, and was married to Mary E. Wilson. He was involved in the plumbing and heating business in Waterloo, Independence, Oelwein, and Faribault, Minn. Zella Anderson CEDAR FALLS-Services for Mrs. Zella Anderson, 84, of the Western Home in Cedar Falls, who died Tuesday morning at Sartori Memorial Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Western Home Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. She was born Oct. 1, 1893 in LaMotte, daughter of Edward and Rosalen Thompson, of Isley.

A hearing Wednesday morning on a motion to suppress certain evidence in the robbery trial of Blair Edward Jones concluded with District Judge Carroll Engelkes overruling the defense motion. The hearing, at which the jury wasn't present, interrupted a trial that began Tuesday afternoon. Jones, 20, of 1711 E. Fourth is accused of first degree robbery, a charge stemming from the holdup May 19 of the Wareco Service Station, 1355 Lafayette St. He allegedly assisted a companion in the robbery and shared in the loot.

ALSO CHARGED with first degree robbery is John Raymond Manning Police say he took money from a service station attendant at gunpoint, with Jones driving the get away car. Manning, 21, of 410 Quincy is to stand trial Sept. 26. The hearing concerned Jones' waiver to John and Ed of Denver, Lester Jr. of Council Bluffs, and Arnold of New York City; a daughter, Mrs.

Colleen Velie of Boulder; a brother, Leo of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Hulda Grundmeier of Waterloo, and Alice Bingham of Scottsbluff, and six grandchildren. Portus E. Strickland Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of Memories West for Portus E. Strickland, 73, of 611Vb Sycamore St.

Mr. Strickland died at his home Tuesday. Group's claim about landlord will be probed The Iowa State Commerce Commission will investigate a complaint lodged against a Waterloo landlord that he is operating his own utility business. Lelah D. Swindler, acting executive secretary for the commission, said in a letter to Tenants Rights, Alliance for' Protection (TRAP) spokesman William Blair, that Iowa Public Service has been asked to file a response to the complaints by Sept.

22. Members of TRAP filed the complaint with Maurice Van Nostra nd, chairman of the commission, Aug. 30, contending that in some instances Robert O. Smith, doing busines as R.O.S. Rentals, was operating as a utility.

The complaint was filed after some of Smith's tenants complained about the way they were being billed for utilities, Blair said.
