LA PORTE CITY Myron "Bob" Linde, 74, of 4704 E. Quarry Road, died Monday, March 9, of cancer at his daughter's home in Sandy, Utah. He was born May 5, 1917, in Fargo, N.D., son of Archie and Anna Olsen Linde. He married Jeannette Newton on June 21, 1942, in rural La Porte City. He served with the Army in India during World War II as a cryptographer.

He farmed in the La Porte City area, retiring in 1980. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rodney C. of Hemdon, a daughter, Sandra K. Linde of Sandy; and two sisters, Helen Purvis of Cedar Falls and Pat Heidt of Tucson, Ariz. Services will be 2 p.m.

Friday at St Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Graveside military rites will be by La Porte City American Legion, San Diego Post 207. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Huis-man Funeral Home, La Porte City, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

She was bom Sept. 29, 1910, in rural Harmony, daughter of Juddson and Lillian Bartelmey Benson. She married Edward Alfson on Sept 10, 1931, in Minneapolis. He died in 1978. Survivors include a son, Darrell of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Sharon Hiller of Dunkerton; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Orel Benson of Harmony; and four sisters, Vera Peterson of Waterloo, Karol Sensland of Decorah, Eunice Ingram of Marysville, and Arlene Patten of Fulton, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Lyle, Manford, Merlin and Keith Benson; and two sisters, Helen and Nelda.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at O'Keefe Towne-Grarup Waychoff Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church.
